Raw Vegan Cacao Milkshake

I have loved chocolate since I was a kid. You might even call me a "chocoholic." I will eat chocolate in just about any form at any time of the day. On pancakes. In waffles. Blended in smoothies. On fruit. Even in it's raw form, all dark and bitter. It's safe to say chocolate is a staple in my minimalist kitchen.

Every morning I wake up and roam around the garden. I feel into the ground with my bare feet and tune into my body and its needs. I then think about the day ahead and what needs to get done. Recently, my body has been craving fatty drinks that keep me full until mid afternoon. I was on a creamy green smoothie kick for about a month, and it got old. What on earth will I make? I wondered. I can't do any kind of fruit smoothie as much as I would love to, because I am following the candida cleanse. The ah-hah moment occurred when I was looking through my cabinet and the tall raw cacao powder jar began staring at me right in the eyes. Yes, you'll do. I thought.

I used to make my chocolate milkshakes with cocoa powder, but since I now buy my cacao powder in bulk I have been buying raw cacao powder. The result? The same delicious taste with an added boost of nutrients. Raw cacao powder is cold-pressed and kept at low temperatures, making it extremely high in antioxidants and loaded with a variety of health benefits.  Although cocoa powder is derived from the same cacao nibs as raw cacao powder, many of the antioxidants are destroyed during the production process when the cocoa is roasted at high heat.

Did you know?

Dairy interferes with the absorption of nutrients from cacao.  Crazy, right? It's like taking a big multivitamin and not reaping any of the benefits. All the more reason to opt-in for the vegan option, if you ask me ;).

Creamy & Chocolaty

This dreamy chocolaty milkshake will leave you wanting more. The coconut milk in this milkshake allows for the full health benefits of the cacao powder. Besides being healthy though, this chocolate milkshake just taste so so good.  You are welcome to adjust the sweetness in your milkshake. I am using monk sugar, as I am still following the candida cleanse. However, I imagine a frozen banana or some fresh dates would add a rich kind of sweetness.

INGREDIENTS

  1. You’re a bomb my beautiful girl! <3 Everything you do is sprinkled with love and so much dedication!!! We have different bodies and it's difficult to figure out which is the best way to maintain them and provide them with the best fuel, haha! we don't come with an instruction manual, the rule of thumb is perhaps… eat something if the following criteria is met 1) tastes delicious (according to you of course) and 2) doesn't hurts your system 😉 Thanks for sharing your inventions and discoveries, keep up with your amazing journey! I wish you a speed recovery, I've fought many health battles myself and when you finally win, a lot of wisdom blossoms and yes, you get stronger. If I can win you can too, I'm an immunological mess so YOU can do anything! Food fuels states of mind, if you get stressed perhaps is something inside your head bothering you if you starve this parasite taking out the food that nourish it, stress will go down, haha! just a little theory of mine, anyway my best regards as usual and much love to you and all of your projects! XOXO – B.
