Dry Shampoo

As a green girl searching for ways to conserve water daily, I thought, well why don't I reduce the amount of showers I take in a week? This seemed like a great idea, but as someone who has naturally oily hair and skin, taking a shower everyday to look 'clean' was a necessity. I began experimenting in the kitchen with powders that would take the oil away while also not standing out.

The first few round of dry shampoos were epic failures. They has a gritty texture and when applied to the scalp, they were very noticeable. Through trial and error, I finally found a system of recipes that works. Using natural powders from the earth to compliment your hair type? This seems like a no brainer to me now!

BRUNETTE:

  • 1 tbs cacao powder

BLONDE:

  • 1 tbs organic corn starch

AUTUMN:

  • 1/2 tbs cacao
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

RED:

  • 1/2 tbs corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric

  1. I was expecting a list full of ingredients for these dry shampoos, when I saw the video wow!!! Amazed!! Part of my thinking involves the idea of “do more with less”. I one heard that you shouldn’t use anything on your skin or body that can’t be eaten, well surely these ingredients are edible and make you smell sort of a yummy gluten-free muffin, right? 😀 Lovely M. You are my favorite girl! <3
